A Little Bit About Me
It is so difficult to describe oneself without sounding foolish, self-important, stuck-up or just downright weird, but I guess I have to try if I want to create a profile. Here goes...

As my profile states, I am divorced and I have a son. I sought khula from my ex-husband 9 years ago for very serious reasons and alhamdoulila Allah (swt) helped me through a very difficult time. MashAllah I am very blessed to have an amazing family support network. My son and I live with the family, as my father didn't feel comfortable with the thought of his daughter and grandchild living alone and struggling in any way. May Allah (swt) bless him and my family and reward them greatly (ameen).

My life has not really turned out the way that I thought it would, but whose life does go to plan? There is blessing in everything that happens to us and alhamdoulila I feel the blessings are never-ending for me.

I've always been a simple girl at heart and all I wanted to do when I was younger was to get married and have kids. I had no great career aspirations and I wasn't really interested in further study. When my marriage plan didn't work out I had to rethink my options and make alternative plans. Therefore, I went back to study and completed a degree in English Language and Literature. Once my degree was complete, I enrolled on a PGCE course to become a qualified teacher. I am currently working as the Head of English in a college, teaching GCSE, Functional Skills and a specialist course training those who would like to teach English in the future. I have also just completed the first year of a part-time Masters course at the IoE. It just goes to show that although I planned a specific life for myself, Allah (swt) is the greatest of all planners.

I love teaching and am very passionate about what I do. I find it extremely rewarding and enjoy the daily challenges that come with it. However, I know that a lot of brothers can be put off when they come across sisters with careers because there is a stereotype surrounding 'career women'. Alhamdoulila, I have been blessed with a career that I love and I have worked very hard for it, but at the same time I am still a Muslim woman who knows her roles, rights and responsibilities in life. InshAllah if I were to meet the right brother then I am more than happy to discuss these things and inshAllah do what is best for myself and my family.

In terms of my personality, I would say that I am a strong minded person with clear morals and principles. I am determined and I work hard. I like to have fun (in a halal way, of course) and laugh a lot. I am very positive and always try to look at the brighter side of situations. I don't really like negative people and do my best to avoid them.

No-one is perfect and I am far from being so, but I am always willing to acknowledge my faults and try and change things when I can.

What I Am Looking For
You will be relieved to know that this section will be quite short because I don't have great list of things that I want.

I would like the brother to be a good Muslim, who prays five times, fasts in Ramadan and fulfils the rights of those around him. This may not seem like much, but fulfilling a person's rights covers a lot of ground.
